I had asked around for what I thought was a really useful patch or program, to have the SPEAKERPHONE default to ON for every call. I found such a program — it works GREAT — but the install is a bit tricky.
I might as well post the whole explanation, in the hope that it helps someone:
The END RESULT of what it dos is to leave the speakerphone in the “on” mode whether you are calling out or receiving a call — the opposite toggle from the way it normally is. I prefer to have it start up that way ; I can set the volume rather low and hear it right close by my ear. But enough of the social implications.
The patch (and an explanation) is here: (download to your PC)
http://oldsap.blogspot.com/2008/02/speakerphone.html
The instructions are rather vague so I’ll go over them.
a) you have to use a registry editor to enter the 3 keys shown on the download page.
( I don’t know why someone clever enough to write a program like this can’t create registry keys… or a CAB file…)
b) You then have to download the .RAR file, and extract the 2 files: (this requires WinRar on the PC)
InTheHand.WindowsMobile.dll -and-
SpeakerPhone.exe
c) you then have to use an explorer program to create the folder (in your phone):
Program FilesSpeakerPhone
d) copy the 2 files from your PC into that directory in the phone.
e) using an explorer program in your phone, navigate to the folder and run the .exe program.
FYI while you are on a call if you press and hold the green/go/yes/call/speaker button for 2 seconds, it now turns the speakerphone OFF.
The NEXT time you make or get a call it will be ON again.
You have to stop the program from the task manager.
I am SO glad I found this. I hope it helps someone else as well.

i've updated the post on the site to link to oldSAP's download page for v1.05 - Two quick questions:
1) Do you still have to reboot your phone after installing for this to go into effect?
2) Do you still have to stop the application from the Task Manager?
thanks

Hello everyone on the BJ2 Forums. Is there some way this .cab can be modified to auto-turn on the speaker phone ONLY when the phone is connected to a power souce (not handsfree). I currently use my phone on a windshield suction cup holder and use it as a GPS, while having it always connected to the car power. Because it only has one USB port, I cannot use a handsfree in this setup (except for Bluetooth, which I refuse to use), so I want to be able to use the speakerphone ONLY when it is plugged in, and not while it is unplugged (such as when I carry it on me). Is there someway for this to happen? Thank you guys!
